Hello, My name is Chris Woertz, I was born and raised in Southern Harrison County, went to Heth Washington Elementary then Corydon Central High School where I graduated in 1997. I started my fire service career just after 9/11 with Heth Township FD. I moved to DePauw area in 2004 when I joined the Ramsey Fire Dept. Since then I have held many positions within the RFD starting with the rank of SGT where I was responsible for the upkeep of Station 3 in Frenchtown, Then moving to Captain where is started overseeing all Apparatus and Equipment. And later took on Gear, SCBA and small engine equipment also. After a few years I was elected to the Assistant Chief position where after just a few months, then Chief Wiseman told me he would be retiring after that 2 yr. term. During that time he started grooming me if you will for the chiefs position. In 2016 I was elected Fire Chief and have continued to push the RFD forward as the Chiefs in the past have. To date RFD is the largest and busiest all Volunteer FD in the area and the membership continues to train to better serve our community. It is truly an honor to serve as your Fire Chief.
